Taking the offline, online at the Gadget Show Live 2014

With almost a million viewers watching the 2013 finale, it's not surprising that The Gadget Show sells out almost an entire arena full of tech-loving fans for its annual six-day spectacular that is the Gadget Show Live.

Our client Fitbit have had a presence at the Gadget Show Live since the product arrived in the UK in 2012. Back then, it was one of the first in its category; a category that barely existed but now dominates the headlines of various technology and lifestyle websites - wearable technology.

We took a day out of the office to help promote Fitbit in a real-life situation. After all, we're constantly talking to their customers through PPC ads, Google+ musings and Twitter; we should be experiencing it in the flesh too.

Talking to potential customers about Fitbit is not an issue for us. We're great believers in living the brand and already consider ourselves to be Fitbit advocates. Jellyfish takes part in the Fitbit Corporate Scheme so getting to the top of the Leaderboard is a constant battle for many of our staff members. This genuine insight into the lifestyle that Fitbit creates for its customers gives us the enthusiasm and knowledge to speak and encourage Gadget Show Live ticketholders to embrace the Fitbit lifestyle themselves. 

Our challenge was to get those not at the Gadget Show Live talking about the event, Fitbit and the products themselves, whilst juggling talking to the real-life customers. Armed with Wi-Fi, three iPhones, an iPad and a Mac we set about taking the offline, online.

We captured the bright colours of the Flex bands on Instagram. We took videos of the magnificent Fitbit stand and uploaded it to Vine. We took a selfie of 'Team Fitbit' and put it on Twitter. Fitbit's loyal fans and those interested in the product then started to engage with what we were saying.

After the first day of the Gadget Show Live, it became apparent that those who had purchased Fitbits from the stand were taking to Twitter to show-off their brand new gadgets. What did we do? We followed, retweeted and responded to this new band of Fitbit fans.
