Hi, I'm Hannah. I'm an SEO and Social Manager here at Jellyfish. Today, I'm going to talk to you about Google+ and why you should be using it.

Google+ is Google's very own social network. It's on the back of everyone's minds. It could be that you set up a page and you're not really using it. It could be that you're using it and you're posting the same kind of content from Facebook and Twitter as you are to Google+. While this is all well and good, it means you're not taking advantage of some of Google+'s unique features. Today, I'll tell you a little bit more about some of those.

What is Google+?

First of all, what is Google+? As I said, Google+ is Google's very own social network. On the surface, it looks like any other social network. It has a lot of similar features to Facebook and Twitter. You can post status updates. You can create events. You can share photographs and videos with friends.

What makes Google+ a little bit more unique is its ability with content. You can find content, share content, and engage with content a little bit better than you can on the other sites. It's also really good for finding people with similar interests to you via communities and hangouts and by engaging with other people.

Just like Facebook, Google+ has business pages, so you can help build your web presence a little bit more. Business pages work in the same way as profiles do. You can set up your brand page, and you can post content and engage and interact with fans a little bit more.

If you're not using Google+ yet, I've written a handy how-to guide to set up your profile and your business page, and you can find this over on the Jellyfish blog.

Why should you be using Google+?

I believe people are being quite slow to adopt Google+ because they're waiting for it to get really big. But I think this is a great opportunity for you to get ahead of the game and get ahead of your competitors, so that when it does get really big, you'll already be there in terms of followers and strategy. Google are integrating Google+ with a lot more of their product, things like YouTube and Google Drive, which suggest it's going to be here to stay.

Another reason to use Google+ is by having a Google+ page, it will help you in the search results, because your Google+ page is more likely to feature in the first page of Google results. Also, we've discovered that by having a Google+ page that's verified with your website, you're more likely to appear higher in Google search.

Another reason to get involved with Google+ is Circles. Circles allow you to tailor content to specific people. You can put different people in different Circles, and that way, they'll only see content that's relevant to them. You can put different people in Circles like staff members, customers that like certain products, or suppliers. That way people won't see irrelevant content, and they're more likely to keep following you.

Thank you for watching. I hope it's given you some useful insights into why you should be using Google+.
